Last night I had the pleasure of getting Nicky Hilton red carpet ready for her evening of events in New York City. Her bright blue eyes stunned in champagne golds, warm eyeshadows, and peony-pink lips, perfectly complementing her dress and accessories. It was as classic of a look as it was modern, and I loved what we did. I hope you do too! xx Tommy #gettingreadywithtommy

After prepping Nicky's skin with Korean essences and a lightweight gel moisturizer, I applied a long-wearing foundation to her skin, buffing it into thin layers with a kabuki brush and blending the edges. Thin layers are key to longevity (Nicky had three appearances last night). We used two concealers, one lighter to highlight Nicky’s eyes and features, and one to match her complexion. Nicky's skin afterwards had a natural, velvet finish, and so we only set her makeup with powder in her t-zone, showing off her natural glow.
I groomed Nicky’s brows and applied eyeliner before eyeshadow. We used a mix of reddish, warm eyeshadows to contrast and pop the colour of Nicky’s bright blue eyes, and to give her an almond-eye shape, sans flicky-liner. For lashes, I chose to cut a lash strip in half and apply to the outer corner of her eyes. Corner lashes make open, round eyes like Nicky’s look elongated and flirty, and we loved the result.
A sweep of bronzer, and blush high up on the cheekbones, finished our look. No contour, just natural glamour for Nicky’s night of events in New York City.

An open letter to ditching the popular trend. Trigger warning: it’s a dirty practice, one that fosters lazy habits and doesn’t work well— or even at all. The alternative is the better answer.

This does to makeup in pores what I did to my dirty roommate (hint: it kicks ‘em out). Face Halo is the glass skin, environmentally-responsible cleansing hack we’ve always needed.
